Southeast Arizona Drought Monitoring

Preliminary June precipitation data will be posted by July 15th

Drought conditions update (as of July 5th) - Monsoonal moisture moved into southeast Arizona over the 4th of July holiday weekend. Scattered heavy rain occurred each day from the 3rd through the 5th. No changes were made on this weeks weeks National Drought Monitor map. EXCEPTIONAL DROUGHT (D4) conditions exit over much of Graham and Cochise counties. Extreme drought conditions (D3) continues over the remainder of Greenlee, Cochise and Graham counties, and over the eastern parts of Pinal and Pima counties. Severe drought conditions (D2) exists across the remainder of southeast Pinal county down into central Pima county while Moderate drought conditions (D1) exists across western Pima county.

Outlook for the period of July 6th through 12th. With monsoon moisture in place, expect daily afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms, some of which may produce localized heavy rain. Check the latest forecast discussion issued by NWS Tucson for the latest forecast details. The next update to drought conditions will be during the week of July 12th.
